7 YRS PROCESS - DAY 1534 - USA DRUG EPIDEMIC

GO BACK

USA drug epidemic

I am catching up with posting online my articles.

Despite making drugs illegal and having a very strict laws which allow to sentence people for life for having on them some drugs, according to the UN's World Drug Report 2016, the number of heroin users in the US reached around one million in 2014, almost three times as many as in 2003.

So... isn't that clear example that making something illegal and forbidden does not work ?

Obviously the increase in the consumption of drugs cannot be attributed exclusively to the fact that government has made them illegal. We can give here an example of Portugal where the drugs were decriminalized in 2001 and we can see steady fall in the drug consumption and death related to it but still the main cause of this problem is rooted somewhere else.

I am very tired so I need to finish it now... I need to take a break and lie down on the sofa. If I don't fall asleep then I will try to write more later.
