7 YRS PROCESS - DAY 1041 - FORGIVING OTHERS AND FORGIVING SELF - PART 1

GO BACK

Forgiving others and forgiving self

I am catching up with posting online my articles.

Today I spoke with a friend who is facing the problem with her partner who is addicted to alcohol. You'll know... this is the thing which I Although forgiveness and forgiving our enemies has been primarily introduced by Jesus it is not something exclusive to its followers ( Christians ). Other religions talk about it as well and that includes the followers of the New Age.

Within the current understanding of how the forgiveness should be done it is that we either forgive others or we pray to be forgiven by god. But within this concept of forgiveness there is one extremely important point which almost everybody has missed. And that is forgiving self.

Look at this example...

Let's say that you are an average person. You have your family. You work hard. You go to church. You believe in god. You don't do any harm to others ( or at least that is what you think ) and what is most important - based on all of that what you do and how you are with others - you think of yourself as a good person.

Though one day somebody breaks into your house, beats you up and steals your money and few other valuables. You have lost your things but at least you were fortunate to survive this whole incident and so you thank god for saving you. Few days later you have another opportunity to thank god as the policemen have caught the thief and they have recovered your stolen things.

Some time in the future you meet accidently on the street your abuser ( the thief ). Almost instantly you have an emotional reaction ( anger etc. ) within yourself and you have the thought that you would like to take a revenge on him.

To be continued
