GO BACK

Is alcohol good or bad for me ?

I am catching up with posting online my articles.

This is the continuation of the previous article:

IS ALCOHOL GOOD OR BAD FOR ME ? - PART 1

Yet another fact related to alcohol is that there are many accidents caused by people who drive a car under influence of this liquid about which we are now trying to decide whether it is good or bad for us. But it is not only about the cars because people get involved in many other accidents at work, at home etc. as a consequence of drinking alcohol and altered cognitive and motor functioning. But at the same we cannot blame it on alcohol because in the end it is people who continue drinking alcohol despite knowing about possible consequences.

Another point is alcohol and sex... People have a lot of sex under influence of alcohol ( also under severe intoxication ) and then we have a problem of unwanted babies and the problem of adults having babies while not being prepared and properly educated on how to raise children. And then we have to deal with the consequences for - pretty much - the whole life of this person unless this person is lucky and/or determined to educate him-/herself and become responsible adult.

Then we have more violence, rapes, murders, vandalism, small and big errors and mistakes etc. being committed while under influence of alcohol.

And we cannot forget about alcohol and business. Many people use alcohol during the negotiations and take advantage of other people's lower cognitive skills and functioning and as a result of it we have many deals and contracts ( including public contracts ) getting into the hands of people who should not be doing them. It is obvious that this creates problems and consequences for others - basically the whole world.

Now... although people do a lot of negative things while being under influence of alcohol and although there is so much suffering as a result of drinking alcohol, we cannot say that this liquid is bad. Because in the end all the harm and suffering is done by people who drink alcohol despite of knowing the risk and possible consequences.

Thus is it alcohol that is to blame for it ?

To be continued...
