7 YRS PROCESS - DAY 523 - CONSEQUENCES OF WORKING 12-14 HOURS

Consequences of working 12-14 hours

I am catching up with posting online my articles.

I have talked today with a woman who got sick and she ended up twice in hospital in that last 2 months. First it started with simple flu but eventually it got so strong that she had to go to hospital. 1 - 2 weeks later she had to go again to hospital because something else got bad in her body and she had pains and felt weak. The doctors did many tests but they could not determine the reason for her sudden weakness and sickness.

Anyway she is now out of the hospital and today we had conversation. And apart from the problems with her health she has also told me that she is planning to take on a second job temporarily which means that she will be working 7 days a week for about 12 - 14 hours a day for about 3 months.

Well... she must have her reason to do something like this and that is her decision but within that there are few points which I would like to discuss here.

1. Where we live there is unemployment of over 35 % and taking on a second job by somebody means that somebody else will not get the job and will have to continue to struggle. I am not judging this woman whatsoever but I want to point out that we are thinking about ourselves only and making decisions based on what is best for me. If we functioned as one united and organized group then we would make the decision about what is best for the whole group and thus we would make decision on who should get the job. And once every individual within the group is strong then the whole group would be working and functioning well and strong. 2. Her body is getting sick and the sudden weakness is a sign from her body that something is not right there. The doctors cannot determine in this moment what is going on but I know from experience that this doesn't look good at all. The immune system is giving up. I have advised her to not ignore this sign despite the fact that she is getting better now. Anyway I am asking myself when is she going to take care of herself and her body if she is going to work 12- 14 hours/day and 7 days a week ? With this routine she is actually going to put a lot of stress on her body and then her probability of getting sick increases drastically.

She is not the only one in the world who is working really long hours. There are more and more people making this type of decision either for personal reasons ( to get rich and fulfill their desires ) either they are actually forced to do it under threat that they will lose their job. And having a job is becoming after the crisis of 2007 like a luxury !!!

I know that all of these people including myself would like to have a better life but working long hours, being tired and sick while earning only enough money to pay for the basic needs makes it almost impossible to do something towards the change of this abusive system. They are entirely caught up within the struggle to survive and then it is really difficult to do other things which would be much more beneficial for the whole planet and all of the beings. But even though majority of the people would like to change the current system they don't have time and/or resources to do something about it. Thus we are caught up within the current system which gives all the luxuries to the few while the majority suffers.

But does it mean that we should give up because it is difficult ?

Of course not... We must organize in group and work smart.

Thus I will not give up even though it is hard...

Will you ?
